Elbotola’s New UX: Personalized Sports Content Delivery

The leading Arabic sports app, delivering real-time coverage of both local and international football. The premier source for sports news across the Arab world.

Unfortunately, due to the confidentiality of client information, We have taken measures to highlight key aspects of this case study while respecting privacy and security concerns. Thanks for understanding!

Challenges

While we provide extensive football data, news and updates, user engagement remains below expectations—visitors frequently browse but rarely interact or return. Key pain points driving this trend include:

  • Overwhelming content too many competitions, hard to find favorite teams.
  • No personalization users saw generic feeds instead of tailored news.
  • Slow highlight access key moments buried under unrelated content.
  • Inconsistent experience between platforms (Web and Mobile).

My Role

As Lead Product Designer (UX/UI), I drove the full design lifecycle—from problem exploration to hand-off—working alongside a PM, 3 developers, and other teams to deliver features and experiences that align with business and users needs.

Kickoff Session

We conducted comprehensive research—analyzing platform analytics, user feedback, and team insights—to identify key pain points. Based on our findings, we developed a prioritized action plan, focusing first on high-impact opportunities to enhance engagement while aligning with technical feasibility and long-term product goals. This structured approach ensured our solutions were both strategic and user-centric.
